Buffin Partners is an
independent firm that undertakes economic, investment
and actuarial research. The firm serves institutional
clients in the financial services and other industries,
as well as government entities. Areas of special
expertise include asset and liability management,
investment strategy, economic analysis and actuarial
projections. Typical research projects include: pension,
life and health insurance issues; fund management
issues; risk analysis and management; applications of
economic and financial theory; and social and economic policy issues.
The firm is
international in its scope of operations and is able to
bring a network of international partners together to
provide a global resource team for a specific project.
The firm operates on either a retainer basis or a fee
per project basis. The firm publishes a monthly
Commentary newsletter to provide analysis of current
events and trends.
Buffin Partners was
founded in 1986 by Kenneth G. Buffin PhD, FSA, FCA, FIA,
FSS. Ken is an actuary, statistician and economist with
career experience extending over more than 30 years.
During his career, he has served in various capacities
as consultant, project manager, actuary and investment
strategist for major institutional clients. He currently serves as Chairperson of the American Academy of Actuaries Social Insurance Committee and as a member of the International Actuarial Association's Social Security Committee and the Society of Actuaries Social Security Committee.
